Putting an end to an uncertain few weeks for the tyre manufacturers involved in the MotoGP World Championship, the proposal put forward by Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta for the introduction of a control tyre rule has now been withdrawn.

An official statement from the FIM, on behalf of The Grand Prix Commission, confirmed Mr Ezpeleta's move, which means that the suggestion made on September 22nd in Motegi at the A-Style Grand Prix of Japan will now not come to fruition in the foreseeable future.

The FIM statement in full:

"The Grand Prix Commission, composed of Messrs. Carmelo Ezpeleta (Dorna, Chairman), Claude Danis (FIM), Hervé Poncharal (IRTA) and Takanao Tsubouchi (MSMA), with the presence of Mr Paul Butler (Secretary of the meeting), took note from Mr Ezpeleta of the withdrawal of the proposal from Dorna to introduce a single tyre manufacturer rule for 2008".

"Changes to the current MotoGP tyre regulations (number and use of tyres) will be discussed at an extraordinary meeting of the Grand Prix Commission to be held in Valencia on November 3."
