MotoGP veterans Alex Barros and Carlos Checa, making their final Grand Prix appearances this weekend, were two of the five riders speaking at the MotoGP pre-event press conference at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia.

Alongside the experienced duo, World Champion Casey Stoner sealed his 100% attendance record this season with a final appearance in front of the media, accompanied by home riders Dani Pedrosa and Toni Elias.

Casey Stoner Ducati Marlboro
"I've had a lot of good results here, but also some bad ones. The track is unbelievably flowing for the size it is. I think that we can expect good things here."

"Our 2008 season starts at Valencia. I'm looking forward to my break, but also the tests. It's time for us to get our heads down and start working for next year after some fun riding the bike in the last few races. I'm happy to be World Champion, even if it were to be only once in my life."

Alex Barros Pramac d'Antin
"I'm happy to have had so many opportunities in my career, and to have been able to ride in the World Championship. I have a 90% chance of retiring here, but I feel good. Life doesn't just stop here."

Dani Pedrosa Repsol Honda
"I am taking the positives from this year. We've learnt a lot and won't make the same mistakes again. I must concentrate on myself for next year, now that the tyres and everything else are settled. I don't know anything about the new bike, so will have to wait like everyone else until Tuesday."

Toni Elias Honda Gresini
"It is my last race with the team, and I want to show respect to Honda, my mechanics and everyone behind me by finishing well. I want to give this race as a present to the team. Everyone wants to finish the season well, but myself more than most."

Carlos Checa Honda LCR
"I am quite satisfied with things. I think that my energy is still high enough to keep riding, but I don't like to be in a position where I can't be fighting for the World Championship. A good result here would be hard, but I want to end on a high."
