Barros given surprise tribute

On the eve of his final MotoGP race, Alex Barros was the recipient of a surprise tribute from his Pramac d'Antin colleagues and friends from the paddock in the team hospitality.

On the eve of his final MotoGP race, Alex Barros was the recipient of a surprise tribute from his Pramac d'Antin colleagues and friends from the paddock in the team hospitality. The Brazilian was given a warm welcome by the likes of Loris Capirossi, Vittoriano Guareschi and Jurgen van den Goorbergh, three riders who have forged a strong friendship with the veteran of 275 Grands Prix.

Barros gave a short speech, in which he thanked all of those who have befriended him over his long career.

"It is a pleasant surprise to be here, and it has made me very happy. I haven't been able to achieve all my sporting dreams that I had set out in the World Championship, but I have made some great friends," said the 37 year-old.

"I am happy, because I have been able to do good things this weekend. I am very satisfied with everything that I have done, and not sad at this moment. I have contributed to make MotoGP more well known in Brazil, I have ridden a lot of races and I have achieved a lot. It doesn't end here; I have other goals, and I can leave here with happiness and satisfaction."
