Participating in his last Grand Prix for Dunlop Yamaha Tech 3 this weekend MotoGP rookie Sylvain Guintoli signed off from his final free practice session with the team at the head of the Saturday morning timesheet with the fastest lap at Valencia.

The Frenchman, who moves to Pramac d'Antin for the 2008 season, has topped the charts previously this year on soft tyres during free practice and he repeated that trick with a lap of 1'32.670s – still a second and a half off Valentino Rossi's 2006 circuit best lap – to set the pace ahead of qualifying this afternoon.

The ever consistent Casey Stoner has been at the business end of the timesheets all season on the Ducati Marlboro machinery which he has ridden to World Championship glory in 2007 - and he was second to Guintoli in this run-out by 0.462s.

Hovering in third as he was yesterday, Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa was 0.566s behind Guintoli, while veteran Pramac d'Antin rider Alex Barros lapped fourth fastest.

Honda Gresini's Marco Melandri continued his progression in fifth, just ahead of the Italian compatriot he will replace at Ducati Marlboro next year, Loris Capirossi.

Still unable to get on the pace were former World Champions Valentino Rossi (Fiat Yamaha) and Nicky Hayden (Repsol Honda) in 11th and 14th respectively - both powerless to breach a top ten completed by Randy de Puniet, John Hopkins, Colin Edwards and Chris Vermeulen.
