Having retained his title at the last round in Malaysia and on provisional pole after dominating Fridays proceedings at the Gran Premio bwin.com de la Comunitat Valenciana, a relaxed and confident Jorge Lorenzo lapped quickest again in the Saturday 250cc free practice session.

The MotoGP-bound 20 year-old went round in a time of 135.543s, which was 0.434s off Hiroshi Aoyamas 2006 circuit best lap, but enough to keep him ahead of the sessions second fastest participant Mika Kallio (Red Bull KTM) by 0.021s.

Lorenzos adviser and good friend Alex Debon (Aprilia Racing) was third fastest, with Alex de Angelis (Master-Mapfre Aspar) and Hector Barbera (Team Toth) fourth and fifth.

Julian Simon (Repsol Honda), Hiroshi Aoyama (Red Bull KTM), Yuki Takahashi (Kopron Team Scot), Marco Simoncelli (Metis Gilera) and Alvaro Bautista (Master Mapfre Aspar) completed the top ten.
