Champions receive prizes at FIM MotoGP Awards

With the final standings decided for all three categories in the MotoGP World Championship, there was just one more special event to attend to round off the 2007 season on Sunday evening.

With the final standings decided for all three categories in the MotoGP World Championship, there was just one more special event to attend to round off the 2007 season on Sunday evening.

Numerous illustrious names from within the MotoGP family, including members of the FIM, rights holders Dorna and, of course, the top riders of the year all gathered at Valencias Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias for a star-studded gala - The 2007 FIM MotoGP Awards.

The event, hosted by the government of the Comunitat Valenciana, was broadcast across the globe, and was presented by the BBCs Matthew Roberts and TVEs Ainhoa Arbizu.

A vast array of prizes were awarded over the course of the evening, marking the achievements of those riders who have excelled on-track this year.

Categories included Rookie of the Year, Pole of Poles for best qualifier and Manufacturers World Championships.

Of course the crowning moment of the ceremony was 2007 World Champion Casey Stoner receiving the new MotoGP trophy.

Stoner closed the ceremony by holding up the breathtaking new prize, which was first displayed to the public at the Gran Premio bwin.com de la Comunitat Valenciana, earlier this weekend.
