Originally set to compete in the last race of his three Grand Prix stint with Pramac dAntin Ducati this weekend, Chaz Davies has withdrawn from todays action owing to a fractured fifth metacarpal in his right hand.

The Briton had experienced a difficult weekend, with a Friday crash sending him to hospital with injuries to his hand, back and ankle. Davies was back on-track yesterday, but took another tumble which further aggravated his condition. He did not appear for the morning warm-up, and will now leave Valencia without the opportunity to further impress onboard the Desmosedici GP7.

With Davies unable to race, this year will be the first time since the Grand Prix series started in 1949 that there has been a full season without a British rider scoring points in the premier class.
