The big focus of the MotoGP media test at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia, Michael Schumacher had an extended chance to master the ins and outs of the Desmosedici GP7. The former Formula 1 World Champion is a big bike fanatic, and after a previous test onboard the 990cc version, he had his latest outing on a MotoGP machine on the preceding day to the start of the 2008 preseason.

Stating that he found the experience ‘extremely fun', the German impressed onlookers by dropping over five seconds from his times over the course of the day, unofficially riding round in a presentable 1'39s. However, Schumacher had not set out specific markers for the test.

"How can I compare my times on a Harley Davidson to this? It's unlike anything else in the world. Last time I was maybe 15 seconds slower than what COULD be done, so I thought that I'd try and run 10 seconds quicker than the last time," explained the now-retired driver.

No stranger to a dominant championship season, Schumacher also had a few words of praise for 2007 MotoGP World Champion Casey Stoner.

"Nobody would have bet on him looking at last year; Ducati took a big risk and it paid off. Sure, there's a tyre situation, but he beats his team-mate and other guys on the same tyres, so credit to him. I have been very impressed with him this year."

More reaction from the motorsport legend, along with footage of Schumacher on-track, is available in the following video.
