Quarter litre class participants benefit from Valencia testing In addition to the 17 riders preparing for premier class participation in the 2008 MotoGP season in winter tests at Valencia on Tuesday and Wednesday a group of seven of 250cc men were also in attendance at the Ricardo Tormo circuit.

As proceedings concluded it was the Red Bull KTM pairing of Mika Kallio and Hiroshi Aoyama – both Grand Prix winners twice in 2007 – who came out on top in terms of lap times, with Kallio going round fastest courtesy of a 1'34.898s effort.

Next on the timesheet were Spanish Aprilia riders Hector Faubel (Master - Mapfre Aspar), who is promoted to 250 next year as 125cc World Championship runner-up and Alex Debon who replaces his friend Jorge Lorenzo at Fortuna Aprilia.

Meanwhile, Lukas Pesek got his first experience of the 250cc Emmi Caffe Latte Aprilia machinery he graduates to in 2008 from the 125cc category, Wilairot Ratthapark of Thai Honda PTT SAG got to sample his new factory Honda and Pesek's Czech compatriot Karel Abraham put in 81 laps with his Cardion AB team.

Reviewing the test date, Thai rider Ratthapark Wilairot commented: "The first thing that surprised me with this bike is how easy it is to change directions and how well it responds to the rider's input. It's a small and light bike. The engine is also much stronger, but today I only had a first taste of things to come. Now the important thing is to adapt myself to this new machine and be up to the challenge. I'm very motivated and thankful to have such an opportunity and I'll hope to prove on the track that I deserve it."
