As the majority of the MotoGP field for 2008 continued their preparations for the season to come in the first winter test at Valencia on Wednesday morning, the timesheet had a familiar look with World Champion Casey Stoner on top once again.

The Aussie star was marginally quicker than on Tuesday with a lap of 132.120s, shaving 0.228s off his best time from yesterday with most of his fellow participants more than a second slower.

After a curtailed session on Tuesday due to technical problems 2006 World Champion Nicky Hayden was able to get back to his normal position as the rider notching more laps than any of his competitors and the American looked good on the updated RC212V as he went round second fastest a similar 0.8s gap behind Stoner as he was yesterday.

Anthony Wests morning was temporarily interrupted by the only major incident of the session so far, a fire with the new Kawasaki machinery, though the Australian was still able to put in 38 laps.

In addition to the MotoGP stars, 250cc riders Mika Kallio and Hiroshi Aoyama are putting in plenty of hard work with their Red Bull KTM team, Wilairot Ratthapark has had his first ride with the factory Honda he will ride next year and Lukas Pesek is getting his first taste of quarter litre class action with Aprilia.

The riders will make the most of the day by not having a lunch break and will continue testing until 5pm this afternoon.
