The first 07-08 winter test has concluded at Valencia with Ducati Marlboro's dominant World Champion Casey Stoner ahead of the pack for the entire duration of the day and half exercise.

Wednesday's outing took place in clear, sunny and pleasantly warm conditions with no major incidents hindering the riders, with Anthony West managing 99 laps as the most prolific participant despite a technical issue with his bike early in the day.

His compatriot Stoner put in 55 laps of the Ricardo Tormo circuit and concluded proceedings with a time of 1'32.095s - to keep him 0.339s ahead of second quickest rival Nicky Hayden, who was unsurprisingly also one of the Wednesday's hardest workers with more than 90 laps.

Another Repsol Honda former World Champion, Dani Pedrosa, was fourth on the overall timesheet, as he and Hayden put the new RC212V through its paces with some promising early results.

Randy de Puniet was third quickest as he quickly adapted to using Honda machinery, whilst Chris Vermeulen (Rizla Suzuki) completed the top five. Vermeulen's new team-mate Loris Capirossi familiarised himself with his new team by practising on the 2007 GSV-R800 and ended up seventh on the timesheet.

Finishing 11th on home soil Fiat Yamaha's exciting new recruit, double World Champion Jorge Lorenzo, was quicker than his fellow 250cc graduates Andrea Dovizioso (JiR Team Scot) and Alex de Angelis (Honda Gresini), who were 14th and 15th respectively.

There full be three day MotoGP tests later this month at Sepang (15-17 November) and Jerez (27-29 November), whilst a short night test at Qatar on Monday 12 November will be attended by a small group of riders. Official Valencia test – day two – lap times (number of laps indicated in brackets)
