The highs and lows of American rider Nicky Hayden's past 13 months will be brought to the small screen in a special programme, ‘The Kentucky Kid', in his homeland from this Friday.

A reality show at high speed, the two hour special goes on-track and behind the scenes to detail the trials and tribulations of the 2006 MotoGP World Champion, beginning with the heart-stopping collision with team-mate Dani Pedrosa at last year's Grand Prix in Portugal.

From the emotional moments in which Hayden believed the title to have slipped away, the MTV documentary then moves to the final round of the year, and the surprise twist which saw the 25 year-old come back to reach the pinnacle of motorcycle competition.

A perhaps even more intriguing season, ‘The Kentucky Kid' focuses on 2007, the year in which the defending champion had to battle with rule changes, critics and of course his fierce rivals on the MotoGP grid. Hayden's close relationship with his family and positive attitude in the face of adversity stand out, as he undertakes a difficult year as a marked man in the sport.

‘The Kentucky Kid' premieres on Friday, November 16th at 10pm Eastern/Pacific time, and will be available in its entirety cross carrier on MTV mobile's linear channel and VOD service.

To promote the documentary, Hayden will be on hand in New York City tomorrow as a guest on Total Request Live, one of MTV's flagship shows, from 3.30pm.
