Kawasaki rapid reaction pleases newcomer Hopkins

Kawasaki rider John Hopkins was out on track with the Ninja ZX-RR800 for a second test today in Malaysia, following on from his Valencia debut in the post-race sessions. The Anglo-American lined up alongside new team-mate Anthony West to undertake laps of the Sepang circuit, although Hopkins' progress was hampered by the early afternoon rainfall that all-but halted proceedings.

Despite not having had as much track time as he would have liked, the 24 year-old was still happy with his progress. He was also particularly pleased with Kawasaki's fast action on his post-debut requests.

"The changes that I personally asked for after Valencia have already come through, so everything's really good. We're going to get new parts every test, and I think that Kawasaki's policy is going to be bringing new parts in all the time, but developing it from the bike that we have now. There will be some changes come January, but it will be developing the bike that we already have," commented Hopkins after the washout afternoon.

The Kawasaki rider, who joins ‘Team Green' after a long stint with Suzuki in MotoGP, will be back in action tomorrow alongside the other riders preparing for 2008 at the earliest possible opportunity.
