Although the riders testing ahead of the 2008 season made a late start in Malaysia today, morning rain and subsequent water on track keeping them in their pit-boxes until midday, their were some significant developments in the early afternoon.

James Toseland was the very first rider out on track but it was his new Yamaha Tech3 team-mate Colin Edwards who topped the timesheets at 4pm local time enjoying a first run on the hew Yamaha M1.

Chris Vermeulen of Rizla Suzuki was second quickest whilst his new team-mate Loris Capirossi has put in some time on the new 2008 Suzuki GSV-R, in fifth so far, just ahead of 2006 World Champion Nicky Hayden in sixth place on the new RC212V.
