Denning praises Capirossi after varied Suzuki test

Rizla Suzuki riders Loris Capirossi and Chris Vermeulen were both present at last week's Sepang test, although the duo were set very different tasks for the three days on track by Team Manager Paul Denning.

"Loris was learning about the machine and trying a lot of different things, which were sometimes better for him and sometimes worse. It is really important that even an experienced guy like him understands everything on the bike," explained Denning after overseeing the veteran's second ride on the GSV-R800.

"Chris' job was just to work with the new bike, although he used an engine spec more like that of the 2007 machine. We have a big step to come in January with the engine," he continued, before going into more detail regarding the feedback given from both his charges.

"The engine might be the same, but the riders said that they felt stronger, meaning that something must have worked with either aerodynamic changes or another aspect of the bike."

New addition Capirossi has taken well to life in Suzuki, to whom he has moved after a five-year stint with Ducati. Denning has been impressed with the former 250cc World Champion's attitude, and rates his communication as invaluable for a team looking to add to their podium haul next season.

"Experience is one thing, but Loris is so enthusiastic and not scared of either making mistakes or pushing hard. We have already found that his understanding of different machines has helped us with information about our bike," he concluded.
