Luthi speaks on testing return and Pesek addition

Emmi - Caffe Latte Aprilia rider Thomas Luthi returned to the track at the beginning of the week at the Circuito de Jerez, putting in more laps onboard the 2008 Aprilia bike with which he has been making steady progress over the last few months.

The Swiss rider, a former 125cc World Champion, had a great rookie season in the 250cc class in 2007 with a number of podium close calls. Given full factory support for next year, Luthi can be expected to feature strongly in the battle for the quarter litre category title.

"The feeling with the bike isn't bad; I've ridden the last six races with this bike so I'm getting used to it now," he explained. "The bad thing is that recently a stomach problem stopped me testing, and now we have had rain here which hasn't given us as much time as we wanted."

Luthi now shares a garage with 250cc newcomer Lukas Pesek, with Sandro Cortese carrying on as the Emmi - Caffe Latte Aprilia team's 125cc representative. Displaying the cautiousness that is a trademark of those with the drive to win championships, he described the team atmosphere with something of a barbed bouquet…

"There have been some changes in the team. Now we are three riders and at the moment everything is O.K. Of course, in racing everyone is working for themselves, but at the moment things are good within the team."
