Five time MotoGP World Champion Valentino Rossi may have been out of action since the last race of the season at Valencia, having missed the opening two tests of the winter schedule, but he will be back racing from tomorrow in the 2007 Monza Rally Show.

Rally fan Rossi, who has participated in car racing as a sideline during recent years, will be behind the wheel of a 2006 Ford Focus at the event, which is a ‘rally on a circuit' in his homeland. He will be accompanied by co-driver Carlo Cassina, who was last alongside the Fiat Yamaha rider at the 2006 Rally New Zealand.

Fiat Yamaha are heading to the show en masse, with Rossi's side of the garage entering three more pairings. Team Manager Davide Brivio, assistant Uccio, data engineer Matteo Flamigni and coordinator Roberto Brivio will be participating in cars provided by the team's title sponsor, whilst Rossi's father and former Grand Prix racer Graziano will be joined by Lorenzo Marconi in a Maserati Gransport.

MotoGP has a surprisingly strong representation at the Monza event, with lower cylinder class riders Marco Simoncelli and Fabrizio Lai driving a Fiat Grande Punto Diesel and Fiat Punto respectively.

The 2007 Monza Rally Show takes place in the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, from Friday to Sunday.
