Pasini hoping for fun from ‘new adventure'

One of the 250cc riders to stay on at Valencia for testing, before a second ride of the preseason at the Circuito de Jerez, quarter litre rookie Mattia Pasini has hit the ground running in his attempt to be as competitive as possible in 2008. The Italian was the fourth quickest rider in the class at his sophomore outing on the factory Polaris World Aprilia this week, with a fastest time of 1'44.791.

The Rimini racer was on-track for the first time with 125cc ‘team-mate' Bradley Smith, with Polaris World lining up an attack on the title in two categories next season. Coincidentally, the two were involved in a collision at last year's lower cylinder class race at the Spanish track, one of a number of 2007 races in which Pasini experienced mechanical problems.

Analysing his current objectives, the rider tipped as a title contender in his rookie season had a clear philosophy for the coming season.

"I'm on a new adventure, and this is fun for me. I started work with the 2008 bike, but the motivation is still the same as always; to improve all the time and to enjoy myself," commented the winner of four races last season in 125cc.
