MotoGP World Championship winning constructor Ducati yesterday held an official event in Bologna to celebrate their 2007 success, after last week concluding their on-track activities for the year.

Nearly 30,000 Ducatisti were present at the star-studded event, beginning a morning pilgrimage from the Borgo Panigale factory to the Italian city's Piazza Maggiore main square. The final destination was decked in Ducati red, and was the scene of bike exhibitions, music and dance over the course of the day.

Riders from the 2007 project attending the celebration were Loris Capirossi, the Ducati veteran who moves to Rizla Suzuki in 2008 and who stated that he would "always carry Ducati in my heart", and test rider Vittoriano Guareschi. Other representatives included the Italian factory team's last 990cc race winner Troy Bayliss, and new member of the test team Niccolo Canepa.

Sadly unable to attend was the rider who gave Ducati their first MotoGP World Championship, Australian Casey Stoner. Pencilled in to appear at the event, the 22 year-old had to pull out after his crash at Jerez last week, heading home to undergo treatment on the damaged ligaments in his left shoulder.
