Hopkins not dissuaded by Kawasaki Jerez jinx

New Kawasaki rider John Hopkins may have ended his 2007 lower down the testing timesheets than he would have liked, but the Anglo-American still reflected positively on the three days of action in Jerez.

New Kawasaki rider John Hopkins may have ended his 2007 lower down the testing timesheets than he would have liked, but the Anglo-American still reflected positively on the three days of action in Jerez.

‘Team Green' have not been the strongest performers in Southern Spain over the past few seasons, experiencing more success at the likes of fellow frequent testing venue Sepang. However, Hopkins was keen to emphasise the influence data gathered last week would have on the team's plans for improvement before the next Jerez encounter.

"This track has not been good for Kawasaki in the past, but this test gave us a lot of direction," enthused Hopkins. "There are a couple of faults that need to be addressed, particularly the chattering; however, the Japanese will go back home with a lot of information to assess and will be ready to come back here with improvements."

Focusing mainly on chassis work and engine management, Hopkins' testing program was still geared towards making the bike more comfortable for his style. "I'm making a lot of step by step improvements, and just changing the setup around and getting a feel of what I like," he commented, before revealing his plans for a not-so-peaceful December.

"I'm getting married to my girlfriend in the middle of December; I'm really happy, and I'll be coming back in January as a married man!" said an ecstatic Hopkins.
