Italian magazine Motosprint held their annual Caschi d'Oro (Golden Helmet) awards ceremony in Bologna on Monday night, acknowledging the 2007 season achievements from throughout the world of motorsports.

Unsurprisingly there were a number of famous faces from the MotoGP World Championship in attendance to receive prizes, including Valentino Rossi, Loris Capirossi and a delegation from the 2007 World title-winning Ducati team, comprising Claudio Domenicali, Filippo Preziosi, Livio Suppo and Vittoriano Guareschi.

The was also a notable appearance by 2008 MotoGP newcomer James Toseland - the British rider who won his second Superbikes title this year and who entertained the crowd with one of his typically impressive musical performances.

Additional prize-winners were Giampiero Sacchi and Gigi Dall'Igna from the Piaggio group, 250cc World Championship runner-up Andrea Dovizioso, 125cc title winner Gabor Talmacsi and two of the Hungarian's fellow single cylinder participants in the 2007 season Simone Corsi and Mattia Pasini.

There was also a special prize for Doctor Claudio Costa, the head of MotoGP's Clinica Mobile, who received his award from a rider to whom he gave emergency life-saving treatment and rehabilitated in remarkably quick time this year - former 125cc World Champion Roberto Locatelli.

Following the Ducati celebrations in the city on Saturday, the Caschi d'Oro gala was another event held in the build-up to the 32nd edition of the Bologna Motor Show, the International Automobile Exhibition, which will be held at BolognaFiere from 7th to 16th December.
