MotoGP stars going under the surgeon's knife

Although Casey Stoner has been told this week that rest and recuperation rather than a visit to the operating theatre should be good enough to heal his injured left shoulder a number of other MotoGP riders are undergoing surgery during the winter break.

Although Casey Stoner has been told this week that rest and recuperation rather than a visit to the operating theatre should be good enough to heal his injured left shoulder a number of other MotoGP riders are undergoing surgery during the winter break.

Anthony West will soon be having screws and plates removed from an old wrist injury, Toni Elias is having an operation today (Friday 7th December) to alleviate shoulder and collar bone problems, while 2006 World Champion Nicky Hayden is spending the week at Doctor Arthur Ting's clinic in Northern California.

Hayden had a shoulder op this week on the joint injured in Portugal last year - a light surgical intervention by the highly respected Doctor Ting who undertook ‘minor scope work', before placing the Kentucky Kid's arm in a sling and recommending a week of complete rest.
