After his impressive debut season in the World Championship in 2007, Thai Honda PTT SAG rider Ratthapark Wilairot has been given the Best Professional Sportsman Award from The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT).

Having returned home for the winter break after amassing 30 points this year in the 250cc category as Thailand's first MotoGP representative, the 19 year-old rider's hard work has been rewarded by the primary sports institution in Thailand. The SAT plays an important role in developing and promoting sports of all kinds, working in association with the Ministry of Tourism and Sports.

Wilairot received his award in Bangkok at the weekend in recognition for the interest he has generated in Thai sport and the buzz he has created for MotoGP in Thailand.

His rapid progression in 2007 means Wilairot will be provided with a factory RSW Honda for next year's campaign - with the Thai Honda PTT SAG team set to hold their official 2008 package presentation this week (20th December) in the Thai capital.
