- If Hector Faubel, Gabor Talmacsi, Simone Corsi, Lukas Pesek and Sergio Gadea all fail to win the race it would set a new record of the opening six races being won by six different riders. - Hector Faubel has qualified on pole for the first time in what will be his 88th start. - Mike di Meglio starts from his best ever grid position. His only previous front row came was when he qualified fourth in South Africa in 2004. - Gabor Talmacsi starts from the front row for the fifth time in 2007. - Dino Lombardi has vastly improved on his previous best qualifying position, which was 23rd at Le Mans two weeks ago. - Lukas Pesek starts from his lowest grid position since qualifying tenth in Turkey last year. - Mattia Pasini starts from his lowest grid position since qualifying 15th for the wet race in China in 2005, when he went on to score his first ever victory. - Bradley Smith could become the first British rider to register back-to-back podiums in the class since Chas Mortimer in 1973.
