Aprilia wildcard Alex Debon ended up on top of the timesheet and on provisional pole for the Cardion ab Grand Prix Ceske republiky after rain arrived at Brno and curtailed the 250cc first qualifying practice.

Spaniard Debon, who will become a regular rider next season in place of his MotoGP-bound friend Jorge Lorenzo, went round fastest before the rain started to fall and sits provisionally at the front of the grid despite completing just four laps of the historic Czech circuit.

In second place was Kopron Team Scot's Andrea Dovizioso, a tenth of a second slower than Debon, despite also completing just four laps. Fortuna Aprilia's Jorge Lorenzo managed the same lap total and ended up third courtesy of a time more than half a second slower than Debon's and 0.228s ahead of fourth placed Mika Kallio (Red Bull KTM).

The provisional second row comprises Spanish pair Hector Barbera (Team Toth Aprilia), Alvaro Bautista (Master Mapfre Aspar), Italian Marco Simoncelli (Metis Gilera) and another Spaniard Julian Simon (Repsol Honda).
