Despite starting the season promisingly, two consecutive poor results have halted 125cc rider Lukas Pesek's chances of the 2007 World Championship. The Valsir Seedorf Derbi Racing man finished 13th and 20th at Misano and Estoril respectively, whilst frontrunners Gabor Talmacsi and Hector Faubel have extended their lead at the top of the classification and created a two-horse race for the title.
Speaking ahead of the first practice session at Motegi, Pesek admitted that the chance of glory this season had passed him by.
"For me the title is pretty much over now. I just have to focus on ending the season well," said a regretful Pesek, who may have undertaken his last year in the 125cc category.
"I would like to move up to 250cc, but there is nothing signed yet," explained the Czech rider, who raced in 10 Grands Prix in the quarter litre class between 2002 and 2003.
