Repsol Honda 125cc's 18 year-old Spanish rider Esteve Rabat will not be racing this weekend at the Gran Premio d'Italia Alice as he continues to recover from a hand injury sustained in the last round of the season in France.

The talented teenager from Barcelona is disappointed to be missing a second race in succession having crashed during the 125cc Saturday qualifying practice at Le Mans, with two fractured metacarpals in his left hand keeping him out of action.

Rabat has not been given permission from his doctors to return to action quite yet and will have to wait at least a week more for the forthcoming Gran Premi Cinzano de Catalunya. As a home rider in that race he would love to repeat his recent first ever podium achieved in China at the beginning of May.

For now however the likeable youngster will focus on rehabilitation as this weekend's activity takes place in Italy. Rabat explained: "I went to the doctor to see how my injuries were doing and they've told me that I'd better wait to let everything heal well, so I won't be able to race in Mugello. I'll continue working on the recovery of the hand to try to let everything heal as soon and as good as possible."
