Joining the rest of the MotoGP riders in Sepang for next week's opening test of 2008, Randy de Puniet will be furthering an adaptation to the Honda RC212V that began promisingly in November. However, the LCR Honda team will not be running the full version of the bike until late next month, as the Frenchman has explained.

"I'm looking forward to riding the new bike, even if the 2008 engines will only be ready at the Official Test in Jerez," noted De Puniet. "Basically, we will proceed with our development work alongside HRC, Michelin and Ohlins technicians in order to get a competitive set-up for the first race of the season in Qatar."

Despite having to bide his time in expectancy of the latest motor, the former Kawasaki rider still has plenty to work with. A change in bike and tyre manufacturer mean that De Puniet starts afresh this season, and he will also have to get to grips with the latest Honda chassis for the first time, from day one in Sepang.

After three days in Malaysia, the Lucio Cecchinello's team move to Phillip Island in Australia for a further three day test.
