New Honda Gresini rider Shinya Nakano has been preparing diligently for next weeks first MotoGP test of 2008 in Sepang, having been in Malaysia since 12th January undertaking fitness work.

The sole Japanese representative on the 2008 premier class grid is relishing the challenge of his move to pastures new for the forthcoming season and has been putting in the hours with some intense workouts, under the direction of his personal trainer.

The 30 year old former Kawasaki and Yamaha competitor is hopeful that an early acclimatisation process in the South East Asian country will help him to produce his best when MotoGP testing resumes in the heat and humidity at the Sepang circuit, close to Kuala Lumpur, on Tuesday (22nd January).

Having got married in December, Nakano has enjoyed the winter break but is now ready to get back down to business having switched teams for 2008. He has also recently signed a deal with Spidi, for the Italian brand to become his new leather suppliers for this season.

´My reason for being here in Malaysia early is to get used to the conditions as much as possible, to prepare in the best possible manner and therefore be fully motivated ahead of the first test of the year,´ explains Nakano.

Praising his new employers, he added: ´Im with a fantastic team in Honda Gresini, with their excellent approach to the World Championship. Im really looking forward to working with Antonio Jimenez, who is a chief mechanic with plenty of MotoGP experience.´
