MotoGP stalwart Loris Capirossi has brought experience and plenty of smiles to new team Rizla Suzuki and as he approaches his 19th season in the World Championship he has gained instant respect from Rizla Suzuki chief technician Stuart Shenton.

Speaking exclusively to motogp.com last week in Sepang Shenton said of the 34 year old Italian: "A few things have been very good for us with Loris. With his experience he's been able to help us with several things on engine setting which has been very good."

Capirossi is commonly regarded as one of the friendliest and happiest people in the MotoGP paddock and his positive attitude also prompted Shenton to comment: "The other thing he's brought with him to the team, as a guy like him, is great enthusiasm."

On the final day at the opening test in South East Asia, Capirossi completed 62 laps at the 5.5km Malaysian track and ended up 10th fastest overall with a time 2'01.778, which was a solid effort onboard the updated Suzuki GSV-R on race tyres.

On that performance and the recent development of the Suzuki 800cc prototype Shenton stated simply: "We added the new motor at this test, which seems to be quite a success and also we've had some detailed changes to the aerodynamics."

The Rizla Suzuki team will be present for the second MotoGP test of 2008 in Phillip Island this week, where they tested privately at the end of last year while the majority of the 800cc participants practiced in Jerez before the winter break.
