James Toseland took another positive step on his MotoGP journey last week in the test visit to Malaysia and the English premier class rookie reviewed the Sepang work-out with motogp.com in typically straight-forward and modest fashion.

The Yamaha Tech3 recruit used a qualifying tyre to produce a time of 2'01.745 to put him eighth on the timesheet on the final day, whilst on race tyres his pace was over a second faster than on his previous visit to the South East Asian circuit in November.

Summarising the week, Toseland stated: "It's really good and things are going in the right direction every time I step on the bike. We just get quicker and quicker which is good. I'm not putting too much on the line just yet, we're getting slowly quicker and I'm enjoying riding the bike and being with the team."

On the new machinery at his disposal the Yorkshireman added: "We've got the new bike, which has new forks, a new engine which is slightly more powerful and a new swing arm. Colin's also been testing the electronics and new chassis which has been interesting aswell."

"There are plenty of little things to try, but nothing massively different from the old bike, just small improvements altogether, which are helping us make good progress on the lap times."
