Gadea shows his cards in Valencia

Sergio Gadea headed a 27-strong field of 125cc riders at his home circuit of Valencia on day two, as the only rider to break the 1'39 marker in the class.

Gadea, who opted against making a final run-out in the final hour permitted, recorded a time of 1'38.982 to take the top spot with the Aspar Aprilia. He was quicker than Bradley Smith, the Polaris World rider expected to challenge the Spaniard in the title race this season, and 125cc World Champion Gabor Talmacsi.

As in 250cc, it was a bare bones line-up that took to the track at the opening of proceedings this morning, with some of the bigger names opting for an post-matutinal commencement of their work. However, some of the riders with the fewest laps on the board also managed respectable times, in particular KTM's Tomoyoshi Koyama as he clocked the fourth quickest lap of day two.

Simone Corsi was in fifth place, ahead of Andrea Iannone, Scott Redding, Sandro Cortese, Nico Terol and Pol Espargaró, who completed the top ten, with one of yesterday's fastest riders having a miserable time in Valencia. Joan Olive was only able to undertake nine laps today, but can be expected back on track tomorrow to turn things around.
