Local rider Alex Debon closed the three day lower cylinder category test in Valencia as the 250cc class' fastest rider, putting in a 1'35.537 lap of the Ricardo Tormo circuit in the afternoon. The Spaniard, who hails from nearby Castellon, had only taken to the track at 1pm owing to colder earlier conditions.

Nineteen thousandths of a second behind the returning veteran, Mika Kallio continued the kind of testing form that is putting his name firmly into the hat for title contenders. The Red Bull KTM rider, who was quickest in Jerez last week, also tops the overall timesheets from these latest three days in Spain.

Fellow KTM man Julian Simon headed a quintet of Spaniards in the remainder of the top ten, ahead of Aprilia riders Alvaro Bautista, Hector Faubel, Hector Barbera and Aleix Espargaro.

Mattia Pasini was eighth fastest on the 250cc Polaris World Aprilia, a bike that he rode for the first time at the Valencia track after the final race of 2007.

Yesterday's speediest quarter litre competitor, Marco Simoncelli concluded the fastest ten on track today behind team-mate Roberto Locatelli, with two notable absentees being the injured Thomas Luthi and Red Bull KTM rider Hiroshi Aoyama.

Karel Abraham suffered a second crash at Valencia in the afternoon, fracturing his left scaphoid.

Select riders from both 250cc and 125cc will head to Estoril in Portugal for further testing, before the Official Test in Jerez.
