Having played catch-up thus far in 2008 testing, with less testing outings under their belt than other teams, the Alice Team took a step forward at Phillip Island this week by improving their lap times with the Ducati Desmosedici.

Toni Elias, still not fully recovered from the shoulder injury which had doctors advising him to miss a previous test in Sepang, was ninth fastest in Australia on day three. The Spaniard was perhaps flattered on the timesheets by his Bridgestone qualifying tyres, but the most impressive aspect of his day was the quantity of laps that he was able to undertake. Going round the Phillip Island circuit 97 times on the final day, Elias now has a clear idea of what lies ahead when he returns to Europe for next months Official Test.

We have improved overall. We are not totally ready yet, but after three days of work well go back to Europe happy of the results achieved, notes the hard-riding Alice Team man.

We have found the right way to go and we must keep working hard. In the first part of the day we worked on the chassis of the bike, making some adjustments, and at the end we found a good compromise. In the afternoon I also tried some qualifying tyres and I have to admit that I was pleased with how I felt on them.

Elias was once again faster than his team-mate and fellow Ducati newcomer, Sylvain Guintoli, who finished eleventh and just over two hundredths of a second slower than the Spaniard.
