Settling in well with his new employers Alice Team, alongside new team-mate Toni Elias, Sylvain Guintoli gradually improved his lap times in Phillip Island as he got further valuable Ducati experience under his belt ahead of his second full MotoGP season.

The 2008 pre-season sees Guintoli getting to grips with new machinery, new tyres and new team personnel, following his departure from the 2007 Dunlop Yamaha Tech3 set-up - and the affable Frenchman was quietly satisfied with the work completed in Australia.

Concluding day three at ‘the Island' in eleventh position on the timesheet, with a lap of 1'30.983 onboard a Desmosedici GP8 Sat 800cc prototype shod with Bridgestone qualifying tyres, Guintoli commented: "It's been good testing in Sepang and here again. I've improved my feeling with the bike and we've improved the lap time every day as well, so it's good."

"The bike is very different from what I've been riding in the past so I have to get used to it but I feel certain that there is some good potential there."

"We were really fast," continued the 25 year-old. "We tried several tyre solutions and I found a front which I really liked. We have taken a further step forward and we have to continue this direction. On my best lap time with qualifying tyres I did well, although maybe I could have pushed a bit more, but I preferred not to risk any sort of mistake."

The Alice Team will reconvene for their next pre-season session at the MotoGP Official Test at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit in southern Spain on 16th February 16th.
