Fastest in the early part of Tuesdays workout at Sepang, before his new Fiat Yamaha colleague Valentino Rossi stepped up the pace in the afternoon, Jorge Lorenzo spoke to motogp.com in Malaysia to explain what he is focussing on this week - in his second test of the year.

The first day of MotoGPs second winter test visit to the South East Asian venue saw the 250cc World Champion end up fourth on the timesheet with a best effort of 202.654 on race tyres not quite yet matching up to the pace he achieved in the first 2008 Sepang test in January.

Having missed last weeks test at Phillip Island as his team elected not to test at the Australian track and with Rossi of course with Bridgestone this year, meaning that Lorenzo cannot share data with the experienced Italian the 250cc double World Champion therefore has his own unique test schedule to focus on with Michelin and his new Yamaha employers.

Explaining how the first day in the sweltering heat of Sepang had gone, the young Spaniard commented: Weve started here with a long day of testing and it has been quite positive. We concentrated on solving the front end problems we have at the moment and although we havent fixed it yet we are working a lot on the chassis.

Tomorrow we will probably test another chassis, continued Lorenzo, and then on Thursday we will probably do a race simulation, followed by some tests on qualifying tyres.

Stating his gratitude for the input from Yamaha, with their new M1 800cc engine and the improvement it has made for Lorenzo following his initial pre-Christmas tests with the team, the 20 year-old rider added: We have more power and we have more speed and therefore Im really happy with the work the Japanese guys at Yamaha are doing. I cant ask for more, I just have to concentrate on improving my riding style and explaining my specifications.
