Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa is making excellent progress in his battle to recover from injury for the start of the 2008 season and has a good chance of being present for the MotoGP Official Test in Jerez on 16th February.

The young Spanish star visited specialist Dr. Xavier Mir at the Institut Universitari Dexeus in Barcelona on Wednesday to have the stitches removed from his right hand - and had a general check-up on how the injury sustained in testing at Sepang two weeks ago is healing.

After returning to Spain immediately after his 22nd January crash in Malaysia, Pedrosa had a small plate placed on the broken second metacarpal in his right hand, in order to support the fractured bone.

Following Wednesday's (6th February) assessment, Dr. Mir is now hopeful that Pedrosa will be able to return to riding at the Official Test at Jerez de la Frontera in just ten days time.

Therefore, the Honda rider should be able to participate in the subsequent two day test at the end of February under the floodlights at Losail and be ready for the return to the desert circuit for the first round of the season – the Commercialbank Grand Prix of Qatar on 9th March.
