Rossi reaches tax dispute resolution

Fiat Yamaha's Valentino Rossi today announced in a press conference that he has reached an agreement with Italy's taxation authorities, leaving behind a dispute that had blighted his 2007 season.

The five-time MotoGP World Champion read out a statement to the media gathered in Pesaro, in which he explained that he would pay 35 million euros in order to satisfactorily resolve any irregularities for the period 2001-2007, the time in which he claimed residence in London, England.

The Italian now aims to revert to permanent residency in his homeland.

Happy with the conclusion of the issue, which had first arisen in August, Rossi can now focus on the 2008 MotoGP season. His preparations continue this weekend with the Official Test in Jerez, at which he will be aiming to win the BMW M Award for the second year in succession.
