After World Champion Casey Stoner concluded the first of three days of work at the MotoGP Official Test at Jerez in ninth position on the timesheet today the Australian Ducati Marlboro rider spoke to motogp.com.

The MotoGP title holder apparently had a sore wrist checked by Clinica Mobile doctors and was returning to the scene of a test crash which damaged his shoulder in November.

Stoner commented: "It's been a little bit of a difficult day for us. We could have had a lot more decent testing time with tyres and so on, if we'd had a good set-up from the beginning but unfortunately we've been struggling with set-up today and we've spent almost the entire day trying to get the bike sorted."

"This has been a difficult track for us in the past and I think with what we made out of it today we've taken another step forward."
