Pedrosa feeling vindicated by shootout absence

An absentee from the BMW M Award session on Saturday, Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa felt vindicated by his decision not to risk injury on a wet track for the sake of a chance for temporary glory at the conclusion of the Official Test.

The 2007 poleman in Jerez, one of the favourites for success in the 40 minute shootout, is still suffering the after effects of a hand injury from the opening test of the year, and believes that opting out of the Sunday afternoon competition allowed him to complete a more thorough run-out yesterday in Jerez.

"Today we could do some laps, which was good because we expected rain. It was also another chance to find out how my hand would feel, and it was good to know that it was the same as on Saturday," noted the 2007 World Championship runner-up after undertaking 33 laps of the Spanish circuit.

"I think that when I didn't ride on Sunday it was good for me to rest; now we'll go to Qatar and I'll try to be even better."
