Having provided an opening for Andrea Dovizioso –one of the revelations of preseason testing- to enter the MotoGP class with the JiR Team Scot outfit, Gianluca Montiron has established a target of a top five placing in the overall standings come the end of 2008.

Dovizioso was the fastest satellite rider over the course of the three day MotoGP Official Test in Jerez, trailing only 2006 MotoGP World Champion Nicky Hayden and perennial 250cc rival Jorge Lorenzo on the timesheets, something that left Montiron highly pleased with his rookie charge.

"This test has been good, especially considering the weather situation wasn't so good. He was able to push very hard, and I think that shows that in the race he can be pushing for the podium," said the Italian manager.

"We set out our philosophy to sign the best young riders for MotoGP competition, and the target now is the top five."
