Heading into the 2008 season with a new team and riding for Suzuki for the first time in his marathon MotoGP career, the popular Italian Loris Capirossi is as positive as ever about the forthcoming campaign.

Moving from Ducati to Rizla Suzuki over the winter, the 34 year-old is about to undertake his 19th season in the World Championship and his 11th in the premier class.

"My expectation for the 2008 season is really high, because we've done well in the winter tests," states the veteran rider. "The bike is working well. You know, I have a really good feeling with the bike and with the team. Our target is to try fighting for the title. For me 2006 was not too bad and 2007 was difficult, but in 2008 I think we have another good chance to fight for results throughout the season."

Explaining his current frame of mind, with the first race of the season in Qatar just around the corner, Capirossi continues: "I still feel young and I still enjoy riding. I have new goals and a new opportunity with a new bike. I have extra motivation to go at 100% and to do my very best this season."

Describing the atmosphere in the Suzuki pit-box the experienced campaigner adds: "The spirit of all the people in the team is good. Everybody is working for the same goal and everybody is working 24 hours a day to find the winning formula."
