After concluding the first session of MotoGPs innovative night-time adventure in Qatar in 12th position on Thursdays timesheet the 2006 World Champion Nicky Hayden was in a typically pragmatic and positive mood.

The American Repsol Honda riders best time of 157.010 meant he finished the Losail International practice run outside the top ten, but Hayden nonetheless enjoyed the new experience under the worlds largest permanent sports floodlighting system.

I quite enjoyed myself, its a little bit different, I thought it was pretty fun. We need to get faster but the actual feeling is quite good and its a pretty cool experience, commented Hayden.

On the safety aspects of riding in artificial light the Kentuckian rider added: I havent ridden with anyone yet to see how thats going to be, but as far as the lines and stuff, its not really much different from daytime. I havent had any problems with the shadows, just a bit of the glare off some of the lights is a bit strange, but the actual track, the grip, the tyres seem okay, so I think its good.
