Lorenzo satisfied with first floodlit test performance

Fiat Yamahas Jorge Lorenzo finished MotoGPs first ever night-time test at the Losail International circuit in second place on the timesheet on Thursday evening, lapping just behind pacesetter Casey Stoner.

Lorenzo lost no time in getting to grips with the unique circumstances and like the majority of most of his MotoGP colleagues, the young Spaniard found the conditions different to - but no more difficult than - daylight riding.

The double 250cc World Champion concentrated on race set-up, testing his Michelin tyres, getting accustomed to riding the M1 around under the floodlights at the Qatari desert venue and setting his best time late in the session.

He commented: ´On this first night of testing in Qatar I was curious to see how it would be riding at night. I am happy with the idea and honestly speaking I felt I immediately got used to the conditions. Of course at the beginning it feels a bit strange but after few laps things become quite normal and your eyes get used to the new light.´

´The right lines do not change because of the light,´ Lorenzo continued, ´only when braking do you see your shadow getting closer, and thats why you always have to be alert, in order not to get confused with the shadow of another rider. As far as our performance is concerned, my time was very good today but I think with some more work we can be faster still. Tomorrow, when I am more used to the new light, the track and to the cold temperatures, we will try to do even better.´
