Toseland ready to rumble on MotoGP debut

Attracting much coverage for his lap times in the opening night test at Qatar, James Toseland is in good shape ahead of his long-awaited MotoGP debut. The Briton has had a mixed preseason agenda of getting to know his Tech 3 Yamaha M1 and also learning some tracks new to the World Championship rookie, but appeared most at ease with the Qatar circuit at which he holds recent victories in production racing.

The Yamaha-Michelin combination has so far proved the most apt for the task of tackling the lower temperatures of the Losail International Circuit, with Toseland trailing only factory rider and fellow newcomer Jorge Lorenzo over the course of the two night stint. The 27 year-old is grateful for the work undertaken to fully prepare him for this Sunday, eager to put his skills to the test in 800cc competition.

Im now ready for the first race and I know I need to compete with all of the bikes on the track to truly measure my performance, notes Toseland.

Ive made several race simulations to calculate our fuel efficiency, which looks quite promising. I was very happy with the two day night test but disappointed that after being first for over three hours that I got pipped for the top slot. The team have been fantastic because the learning curve is so steep in this class and without their experience and skill I would be running around in circles.
