Riders' briefings took place on Thursday at Losail to talk the riders in all three classes through the novelties of this weekend's season-opening Commercialbank Grand Prix of Qatar.

The MotoGP riders convened for their meeting at 2pm local time with Paul Butler (Race Director) leading proceedings, in the presence of Claude Danis (FIM), Javier Alonso (Dorna) and Franco Uncini (Rider's Safety Representative).

Mr Butler commenced the briefing by welcoming the newcomers to the MotoGP class, namely James Toseland and of course 250cc graduates Jorge Lorenzo, Andrea Dovizioso and Alex de Angelis.

The briefing continued with reminders on the 60kmph speed limit in the pit lane and some notes on the MotoGP warm-up session procedures, which some of the new riders may not have been fully up to speed on.

The riders were then given information on the unique time schedule for this weekend's historic first ever night time Grand Prix, before Mr Butler explained that in the highly unlikely event of rain in Qatar practice, qualifying or races would be delayed or halted.

The MotoGP riders' briefing was followed by similar sessions for the 250cc and 125cc classes later in the afternoon with both categories welcoming several new faces for 2008.
