Yesterdays fastest 250cc rider in practice sessions for the Commercialbank Grand Prix of Qatar although not in the initial qualifying session held later in the evening- Alvaro Bautista returned to the quarter litre top spot in the first Saturday session for the class.

Yesterdays fastest 250cc rider in practice sessions for the Commercialbank Grand Prix of Qatar although not in the initial qualifying session held later in the evening- Alvaro Bautista returned to the quarter litre top spot in the first Saturday session for the class.

The Mapfre Aspar rider clocked a time of 159.585 to put himself at the head of the timesheets, ahead of provisional poleman and fellow Spaniard Hector Barbera by nearly three tenths of a second. Fastest times were reserved for the final laps of the session for the duo, who were joined by Metis Gileras Marco Simoncelli in circulating in under the two minute mark.

Emmi Caffe Lattes Thomas Luthi and Lotus Aprilias returning rider Alex Debon both led the way at various stages in the session, eventually concluding in fourth and fifth place, respectively, ahead of Lukas Pesek, Karel Abraham, Aleix Espargaro, Roberto Locatelli and Mattia Pasini. The second qualifying session concludes the nights activities, following on from the solitary MotoGP showdown.
