Jarvis impressed by Yamahas historic night

On a fantastic night for Yamaha Racing at Losail International the companys Managing Director Lin Jarvis was understandably delighted after seeing Jorge Lorenzo take pole on his Fiat Yamaha and MotoGP debut, ahead of Tech3 Yamaha counterparts James Toseland and Colin Edwards at the head of the grid.

It´s pretty amazing for us, remarked Jarvis. We are obviously very happy to have three Yamahas on the front row. Its the first time since 2002 I think, so thats great. Also to have Jorge (Lorenzo) on pole position in his first race with Yamaha is sensational.

Expanding on his praise for the double 250cc World Champion Jarvis went on to say that he had not been surprised by Lorenzos excellent winter work on the Yamaha M1 800cc prototype nor the 20 year-olds sensational run to pole at the Commercialbank Grand Prix of Qatar.

Surprised is not the right word. Impressed absolutely. We had confidence that he had the ability to run at the top in MotoGP, otherwise we wouldnt have started the project.

To be honest his progress has been constant and he has been always, always improving, so we are impressed. If we had said, will he be on pole position?, that would have been too much to ask. But compliments to him, for having done such a great job.
