125cc Warmup: Talmacsi takes charge whilst Smith encounters problem Reigning 125cc World Champion Gabor Talmacsi was the fastest rider in the early evening warm-up for the first ever night time Grand Prix in Qatar, for which he will start from the second spot on the grid.

The Hungarian clocked a time of 2'06.355 at a track that will do the opposite of ‘warming up' as the evening progresses, to mark the first session of the year at which Polaris World poleman Bradley Smith did not record the most mercurial lap.

Smith –a late crasher last night after taking his first ever World Championship pole position- suffered a still unknown mechanical problem with his bike and had to use his second Aprilia machine, creating some nervous moments for the Polaris World team. Last year their rider Mattia Pasini was plagued by similar misfortune, and was unable to start from pole position for the race in Jerez with a bike failure of which the team will be keen to avoid a repeat at this crucial season-opener.

"It's been quite an eventful weekend, having two crashes after going fastest. I was maybe just pushing a bit too hard, but everything's ok for today. I went to the Clinica Mobile and they sorted me out, so I'll start the race in good form. We have to wait and see as it's the first night race so it going to be a new experience for everyone," said the Briton yesterday, ahead of an eagerly anticipated race.

Joining Bancaja Aspar rider Talmacsi in setting the early evening pace were Stefan Bradl, fellow front row starter Mike di Meglio and Spaniard Nico Terol.
