Lorenzo continues superiority in MotoGP warmup

Jorge Lorenzo continued his excellent form with the fastest lap of the MotoGP warmup. The Fiat Yamaha clocked a time of 155.849 in the final moments of the 15 minute session.

Following on from his dream debut qualifying session for the Commercialbank Grand Prix of Qatar, at which he became the first rider since Max Biaggi to take pole for a maiden premier class race, Jorge Lorenzo continued his excellent form with the fastest lap of the MotoGP warmup. The Fiat Yamaha clocked a time of 155.849 in the final moments of the 15 minute session.

It was another psychological one-over on reigning World Champion Casey Stoner, who will be searching for ways to beat the rookie contender in the race itself. The Australian had looked to have regained the advantage in the evening session, but was pipped by just 0.012 by the flying Yamaha factory rider.

Lorenzos team-mate Valentino Rossi was third fastest, ahead of Kawasakis John Hopkins and the Suzuki duo of Loris Capirossi and Chris Vermeulen in a top six where only the quickest rider was not running Bridgestone tyres.

Fellow front row riders James Toseland and Colin Edwards placed 15th and 7th respectively on their Tech 3 Yamaha M1s.
